Assistant Manager, Facilities Maintenance

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
 
Responsible for the daily maintenance and operation for multiple facilities.  Oversee the daily performance of subordinate engineers and will ensure facility operations are performed in the most efficient and effective manner.          
 
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee the daily execution and efficiency of routine, urgent, and emergency work orders.  This includes identifying and correcting any inefficiency. 
  • Ensure maintenance and emergency repairs are addressed immediately to minimize the impact on daily operations.  This will consist of 24 hour coverage, 7 days per week.
  • Plan, budget, and provide quality control inspections on assigned construction projects.
  • Routinely interact with maintenance and construction contractors.  Accountable for contractor performance and outcomes.
  • Monitor, audit, and revise all operational logs, inventory, and schedules as needed.
  • Provide leadership, industry knowledge, and general guidance to subordinate engineers.  This includes the administration of routine performance assessments, daily scheduling, and training for all assigned personnel.      
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as necessity dictates.

Job Qualifications

Education
  • Associate's degree programs in facilities maintenance or mechanical engineering technology.
Relevant Work Experience
  • At least 10 years of building maintenance experience in an environment with one or multiple facilities totaling 500,000 square feet of more.
Certification / Licensure
  • EPA CFC  (Section 608) Universal Certification.

Additional
  • Experience applying knowledge of Building Automation Systems, Direct Digital Controls, HVAC/Refrigeration, fire systems, and general construction.
  • Experience applying knowledge of overall structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Experience reading and understanding blueprints and schematics.
  • Experience applying knowledge of the contractor bidding process and contractual reviews. 
  • Possess an expert understanding of how facility systems operate.  This includes, but is not limited to, three-phase electrical, chillers, boilers, generators, data centers, plumbing, and fire systems. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license.
  • Willing to work weekends or other overtime hours as business needs dictate.
